It’s Official: Ghana Will Host AFLC 2026! 🇬🇭

What if the key to Africa's next economic breakthrough isn't just in our resources, but in our voices?

Over 2,000 attendees across four groundbreaking editions have already discovered this truth at the African Languages Conference. Now, AFLC 2026 expands to Ghana with our most ambitious format yet, two full days onsite in Accra, as we explore how African languages can unlock new pathways to prosperity, equity, and innovation.

Mark your calendars: February 23-28, 2026 as Accra becomes the epicenter of Africa’s language justice movement.

Language Justice: African Languages for Social and Economic Development

This isn’t just our theme, it’s our call to action. While the world races toward digital transformation, millions of African voices remain locked out of opportunities simply because their languages aren’t prioritized in education, governance, or commerce. AFLC 2026 challenges this reality head-on.

These comprehensive sub-themes will drive conversations that matter:

  • Language Rights: African Languages in Government and Public Services
  • Economic Growth: How African Languages Create Jobs and Wealth
  • Digital Innovation and AI: Building Technology in African Languages
  • Educational Transformation: Multilingual Learning for All
  • Cultural Economy: Language as Heritage and Economic Asset

The Expanded Hybrid Experience

Building on AFLC 2025’s phenomenal onsite success in Nigeria (300+ participants), we’re creating our largest platform yet:

🇬🇭 February 23-24: Two intensive days in Accra, Ghana with simultaneous online streaming

🌍 February 26-28: Global online sessions on Zoom connecting Africa and the diaspora

This expanded format creates unprecedented opportunities for meaningful dialogue, cultural exchange, and collaborative partnerships while ensuring global accessibility.

Call for Proposals: Be a Voice of Change at AFLC 2026

African Languages Conference (AFLC) 2026 is more than an event. It is a growing platform for the language justice movement in Africa. From February 23-28, 2026, thought leaders, educators, policymakers, researchers, cultural advocates, and innovators will gather under the theme “Language Justice: African Languages for Social and Economic Development.”

AFLC 2026 is now accepting proposals. This is an invitation to help shape the conversations that matter by sharing research, lived experience, community practice, policy ideas, or innovations that move African languages forward, whether onsite in Accra or online. You can propose a talk, panel, workshop, or interactive session that responds to the theme and offers clear takeaways for participants.

We believe African languages are not only tools of communication. They are vessels of identity, knowledge, culture, and innovation. Yet too often, their power remains underutilized in education, governance, entrepreneurship, and development. This is where your voice matters.

As a speaker at AFLC 2026, your contribution can:

  • Inspire action by sharing ideas and research that reimagine the role of African languages today.
  • Empower communities by showing how language can break barriers and expand access to opportunity.
  • Shape the future by contributing to policies, strategies, and innovations that support African languages in social and economic development.

To encourage broader participation across regions and language communities, the Call for Proposals is available in: KiswahiliSetswanaisiXhosaPortugueseFrench and English.

Ready to contribute? Submit your proposal by December 12, 2025.

AFLC has always been built with access at its core, which is why registration remains free. This year, attendees can also choose to add an optional contribution (pay what you can) when registering.

Your contribution helps strengthen what AFLC can offer the community, including the behind-the-scenes costs that make a multilingual, hybrid conference possible. If you are not able to give right now, your presence still matters, and you are warmly encouraged to register and participate.
